When I watched Dane Burman’s latest video part, I couldn’t help but think of the Apostle Paul’s words in the letter he wrote to the Philippians when he said,
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
Paul really had the hope of dying! Not wanting to die because he hated his life so much that he was just over it, but rather he had so much hope for eternity that he was excited for what was to come. The hope of dying and being united with Christ was better than living for him and he was ready.
I gotta believe that Paul was a lot like Dane. Heavy hitter. Went big. Wasn’t afraid of taking some slams. In fact, in the book of Acts–chapter 14–we read about the one time when Paul gets stoned by a crowd and they drag him outside the city thinking he was dead. The disciples find him and help him up, and then he straight up goes right back into the city where he was just almost killed for his faith. What a boss! In many ways, maybe we should all think a little bit more like Paul, with such an anticipation and excitement for what’s to come that we too hope to die.
